When a community of users unites to save its website and start a crowdfunding for a platform takeover; this act writes a new page on the Internet.
Today we are witness of an action that may be judged later as extraordinary. We can definitely call it innovative and trendy.
When Ipernity decided to announce the upcoming closure of our services, they were
expecting, of course, to receive desperate messages, tips and suggestions without further thought, which they had received three times previously.
But something has emerged, an idea simple but new: The community becomes the
manager of the site!
Could the collaborative (sharing) economy be applied to a social website?
In March 2017, everything remains to be done for the small group of members who founded their NPO (IMA) to save their favorite site. They must define their business model, find partners and especially write their project.
To gain more time, they launched a crowdfunding campaign, the main donors are the
members of the site's club. With the money raised, IMA will be able to help the website to live until the end of 2017. This delay will allow them to finalize the draft of their takeover project and to present it to the owners of the site (founders and shareholders).
The campaign will run for two weeks on the Indiegogo® website.

Quand une communauté d’utilisateurs s’unit pour sauver son site, lance un appel au
don, entame un projet de reprise et par cet acte écrit une nouvelle page de l’internet.
Aujourd’hui, nous sommes les témoins d’une action que l’on jugera peut-être plus tard comme extraordinaire. Nous pouvons dans tous les cas la définir comme novatrice et tellement dans l’air du temps.
Quand ipernity a décidé d’annoncer la fermeture prochaine de ses services, ils s'attendaient, bien entendu, à recevoir des messages désespérés, des conseils et des suggestions dont ils avaient déjà fait trois fois le tour.
Mais quelque chose a émergé, une idée somme toute simple mais neuve :
et si la communauté devenait gestionnaire de son site?
L’économie collaborative (de partage) pourrait-elle être appliquée à un site web social ?
En ce mois de mars 2017, tout reste à faire pour le petit groupe de membres qui a monté son association (IMA) pour sauver leur site favori. Nous devons nous organiser,
définir notre modèle économique, trouver des partenaires et surtout écrire le projet.
Pour se donner du temps, nous avons lancé une campagne de crowdfunding, dont les
donateurs sont en premier lieu les membres du site.

Wenn eine Gruppe von Usern sich findet um eine Internetseite zu retten und ein Crowdfunding zur Übernahme der Seite starten, dann betreten wir Neuland im Internet.
Momentan sind wir Zeugen eines Vorgangs der in der Zukunft vielleicht als außergewöhnlich und wegweisend bezeichnet wird. In jedem Fall ist er innovativ und passt in die Zeit.
Als Ipernity – eine kleine aber feine „Photo-Sharing“ Plattform – die Beendigung des Dienstes und die Schließung der Plattform bekannt gab, erwarteten die Betreiber natürlich verzweifelte Zuschriften und wenig fundierte Tipps und Vorschläge, statt dessen trat etwas ganz anderes ein – eine einfache aber neue Idee: Die Gemeinschaft betreibt die Seite selbst!
Geht das überhaupt? Kann eine arbeitsteilige Gemeinschaft dieser Art eine Internetseite managen?
Im März 2017 gibt es für eine kleine Gruppe von Mitgliedern noch viel zu tun. Inzwischen haben sie aber eine Non-Profit Organisation (IMA – Ipernity Members Organisation) gegründet, um ihre Lieblingsseite zu retten. Es muss ein Geschäftsmodell definiert sowie Partner gefunden werden und die Sache muss schnell vorangetrieben werden.
Um Zeit zu gewinnen wurde mittlerweile eine Spendenaktion (CrowdFunding) gestartet, die Spender sind weitgehend Mitglieder des Clubs der alten Organisation. Mit den gespendeten Mitteln wird IMA zunächst in der Lage sein, die Seite bis Ende 2017 zu betreiben. Dieser Zeitrahmen wird ausreichen die Details der Übernahme zu fixieren und mit den derzeitigen Anteilseignern der Seite eine entsprechende Vereinbarung zu treffen.
Die Spendenaktion wird bis Ende März bei Indiegogo laufen. Das Projekt wird dort und auf der Seite der IMA im Einzelnen dargestellt. (http://ipernityma.wixsite.com/ipernityma)
